US Robotics USB Internet Phone

No.

This is a rebranded Yealink P8D. It seems Skype on Linux recognizes the device fine and can route audio. However, the buttons on the device don't work. Additionally, it doesn't look like it wants to work with anything but Skype.

Philips Streamium Wireless 80GB Music Center with Station

With your Ubuntu computer running ushare, it can be a client and a server to the streamium so you can listen to your music from the box. The PS3 also works with the tech.

MTX Audio HTB1-S Home Theater Speaker System

Not Applicable...

This are just speakers, so its NA, but getting to work with Linux does involve lots of setup. Getting linux to output proper surround sound audio is not trivial to setup.

A little late to the party guys, sorry, I get slothful sometimes.

Eiki DLP Home Theater Projector

Not Applicable.

With the release of Ubuntu 7.10, it should be even easier to use the projector as a 'second monitor' for your computer. But to the computer, this is just a fancy monitor.

Brown zune for $80

No.

(previously)
I wonder if they'd be more popular if they could run Linux, with drivers for wifi, for all sorts of wireless fun. As it were, the iPod Touch beat them to it.

As a combo device, Nokia N800 style wifi web browser, and a music player, the Zune could'a been a contender. Unfortunately, the lack-luster wifi support, along with the $2 to Universal Music from Microsoft for each Zune purchased meant no-buy. In fact, the $2 to Universal Music Group for each Zune sold isn't even as bad as the 'PlaysForSure' not playing on the Zune.

Jeesh. I'd forgotten how much the Zune sucked. As nice as the hardware is, Microsoft missed the boat.

Compaq SR2170NX Desktop PC

Yes.

The ATI Xpress 1100 uses an R485 chipset, which does not have _stable_ support yet. Being a desktop, there are PCI slots in case the on-board ethernet does not work (but I'd bet it does).

While not directly applicable, if you can burn dvd/cd-rw discs with your computer (running Linux, of course) with 'divx' video on it, this device claims to be able to play it.

Microsoft Zune 30GB Digital Media Player

Unfortunately, No.

You can list files/folders, and also delete them via libmtp, but the Zune requires Windows to authenticate before you can copy files to it, so thats still a 'no' to Zune support.

Steelsound 5H USB V2

Yes.

These headphones use the C-Media CM108 USB chipset for the audio, and as such, will work under linux. The CM108 is compliant with the USB audio device class which is well supported in linux with the driver built into the kernel.

Hannspree 9.6” LCD TV

Not Applicable

It is a television, with s-video, which can be used with a properly setup video card. And Linux. And the RandR 1.2 extensions.

Pinnacle PCTV HD Card

No.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at this price, its a software card. Which means your cpu ends up doing all the hard work anyway, which means long ffmpeg command lines. Since its at a good price point, I wouldn't be surprised if Linux drivers eventually come out, but I definitely wouldn't hold my breath.

Micro RC Helicopter 2-Pack

Not Applicable!

ROFLCopter, however, works just fine with Linux and Firefox. Oh yeah, and flash.

InFocus ScreenPlay 7210 HD DLP Projector

Not Applicable, but yes.

XRandR 1.2 will do wonders for multi-head Linux, and allow you to hook up a projector to your laptop and use it as a display without restarting X. Its already out and distributions are starting to use it. Gutsy Ubuntu has support for it, and even has a tool to let you add and remove the second monitor, though it is currently heavily reliant on driver support.

Not Applicable.

Wireless Garden Yada Headset Hub

Not Applicable.

Useful concept; but what I like more is being able to change what the microphone jack on a laptop does. Of course that doesn't get you as many jacks as today's woot. What the mic jack does, at least on the Macbook Pro's, is configurable at least, by accident, in software.

(Early Linux drivers for the Macbook Pro's had the microphone jack as a headphone jack. This is the only basis for this speculation. Whether this is actually possible remains to be seen.)

Hayward Viper Pool Cleaner

Not applicable.

Though one of the biggest hassles of having a pool is keeping it clean, so a pool cleaning robot is welcome.
