Otherwise, they sell a $20 piece of plastic at the mall designed to hold your iphone/ipod Touch/ipod at almost the right angle on the tray table in front of you.

This is a rebranded Yealink P8D. It seems Skype on Linux recognizes the device fine and can route audio. However, the buttons on the device don't work. Additionally, it doesn't look like it wants to work with anything but Skype.

I wonder if they'd be more popular if they could run Linux, with drivers for wifi, for all sorts of wireless fun. As it were, the iPod Touch beat them to it.

As a combo device, Nokia N800 style wifi web browser, and a music player, the Zune could'a been a contender. Unfortunately, the lack-luster wifi support, along with the $2 to Universal Music from Microsoft for each Zune purchased meant no-buy. In fact, the $2 to Universal Music Group for each Zune sold isn't even as bad as the 'PlaysForSure' not playing on the Zune.

Jeesh. I'd forgotten how much the Zune sucked. As nice as the hardware is, Microsoft missed the boat.
